Central Friends and Family,
Our 2024 General Conference begins tomorrow, April 23rd. For the next two weeks, United Methodists from all over the globe will be meeting to discuss the ministry of the church. The General Conference body is comprised of equal parts pastors and lay people elected by their conferences
to make decisions for our denomination as a whole. If you want to know more about this gathering, follow this
link.
The mission of all United Methodists is to "make disciples for the transformation of the world." I am so thankful to be a part of a denomination that believes that following Christ doesn't just change us; it changes families, communities, and the planet. Because of this commitment to transformation, the decisions we make together impact how we see God working in our own contexts.
I invite you to be in prayer for our delegates and our bishops as we prayerfully consider where the Holy Spirit is leading the UMC in the future, using the prayer below:
God of new life,
You taught us how to live.
You taught us to treat one another as we would like to be treated.
You taught us always to surrender our wills to your will.
May these teachings be in the hearts and minds of our delegates at the General Conference.
Let their work be inspired and empowered by your Holy Spirit.
In Jesus' name. Amen.
If you have any questions, please reach out to me, Chase, or Virginia.
Grace and Peace,
Jennie
