PRIDE PARADE 

Central is excited to be a part of the annual Pride Parade taking place on Dickson Street Saturday, June 28th @ 5 pm. Help be a part of our welcoming hospitality team Pride Parade! CUBA MISSIONS MEETING

On Sunday, June 8th @ 6pm rooms 3-5 in building C, join us for an information session on our upcoming March 22- March 28th, 2026 Cuba Missions Trip. Julie and Dirk Thibodeaux will be sharing their memorable experiences and how they have been serving and sharing the love of Christ around the globe. Bring your family and learn how you can follow Central's mission to ignite and empower our community, to experience and share the love of Christ.

OMP VOLUNTEERS

Ozark Mission Project is coming to Central the week of June 22-27. We will be hosting over 120 OMP volunteers here at CUMC. There are many opportunities to be involved, by providing and/or serving, delivering popsicles, and even helping with a work project one day. TRINITY MEETING 

You are invited to our second church-wide information meeting on Sunday, June 1st @ 5 pm in Building C to explore an exciting new opportunity in the life of Central United Methodist Church. Central has been approached by the conference about the possible adoption of Trinity United Methodist Church (on Sycamore) as Central's West Campus. This opportunity aligns with Central's mission to ignite and empower our community, to experience and share the love of Christ. Please join us for this important conversation, where we will share more information, answer questions, and discuss the future God is calling us to build.

RETIREMENT PARTY

Please join us in celebrating Mike Hanna’s retirement after 25 faithful years of service to Central UMC. If you know Mike, you know he’s more than deserving of a heartfelt sendoff!

We'll gather Sunday, June 1 @ 10am, in Building C (CAC) for a special time of fellowship and gratitude.

To honor Mike, we’ll be serving Mike's favorite breakfast, "biscuits and gravy" long with other light refreshments.

VBS MISSION PROJECT

During VBS June 9- June 13th, we will be partnering with UMCOR to pack Hygiene Kits! UMCOR Hygiene Kits are distributed during socio-economic or natural disasters throughout the world. Please click here to purchase supplies to pack our VBS disaster kits! 

DCYM BASEBALL GAME

On June 8th from 1-7pm, UMC youth will come together to watch the NWA Natural's ball game. Immediately following the game, we will go to Elm Springs UMC for a brief time of worship, communion, popsicles, and games! For more information on how to attend, please reach out to Zack.

Baptism:

Nai’a and Thomas Broyles will present their infant son, Thomas Michael (Tripp) Broyles III, for Holy Baptism this Sunday May 25^th at the 11:00 a.m. worship service in the Sanctuary. Rhilma and Shawn Sylvia are the maternal grandparents and Tisha and Tom Broyles are the paternal grandparents.

Our Christian Sympathy to:

Gary Darwin and Missy Kincaid in the death of their wife and mother, Beverly Darwin, who passed away on May 19, 2025. Mrs. Darwin joined Central United Methodist Church in November 2023 and participated in the GoodTimers group.

The family of Martha Sutherland who passed away on May 9, 2025. Mrs. Sutherland was a long-time member of Central United Methodist Church, having joined in November 1958.

MINISTRY SPOTLIGHT

STITCH AND PRAY MINISTRY

This spring, the Stitch and Pray members have been creating prayer shawls for those within our church family going through difficult times. The ministry also provides knit and/or crochet items for Canopy as well as infant hats to welcome our newborns in Central’s church nursery. If you are someone who loves to knit or crochet, the Stitch and Pray group meets every Tuesday @ 10am in room 105 Building B.

Campus News

SIGNAGE UPDATE

We’re moving forward with important updates to our campus signage to enhance hospitality and way-finding for first-time guests. Our new signage model will assign each building a simple, letter-based identifier to improve clarity and consistency.

Here’s what to expect:

• Building A: Formerly the Education Building, this space now houses our Scouts and other ministries. Renaming it will better reflect current and future use.
• Sanctuary: This space will retain its name as our primary worship area and a well-known landmark with its iconic Dickson Street steeple.
• Building B: The Wesley Building will become Building B.
• Building C: The current CAC, located at the center of campus and currently referred to by multiple names, will be renamed Building C.
• Building D: The Student Ministry Building—which also hosts our academy and functions as a multipurpose space—will be labeled Building D.

This transition will take place over the next several weeks. New signage will be installed gradually, and updated campus maps will be placed at all exit doors and online to help orient visitors.

STEEPLE RENOVATION

Beginning June 18th, TCM is scheduled to begin work on repairing and painting our beautiful steeple, front pillars, and interior Sanctuary walls. So when you see scaffolding and other work going on, you'll know why. Exciting things coming!
