WEAR RED THIS PENTECOST SUNDAY

Join us this Sunday and wear red as we celebrate Pentecost Sunday!

Pentecost Sunday marks the day the Holy Spirit came upon the apostles after the resurrection of Jesus, empowering them to boldly share the Gospel in many languages. It is often called the “birthday of the Church” because it marks the beginning of the Christian church’s mission to the world. Red is traditionally worn on Pentecost to represent: The flames of the Holy Spirit, God's power and presence, and spiritual Passion and renewal.

LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR(HOOD) COMMUNITY CRAWL

Join neighbors and friends for an evening of community, connection, food, and fun during the Love Your Neighbor(hood) Community Crawl. Participants can choose to bike or walk between stops while supporting local organizations and gathering spaces throughout the neighborhood.

Event Schedule:

5:00–5:45 PM | Central UMC on Garland
1021 W. Sycamore St.
Kick off the evening with A hot dog and hamburger dinner along with a community food drive benefiting the St. James Food Pantry. Attendees are encouraged to bring canned goods and non-perishable food items as organizers work toward their goal to “Fill the Truck!”

6:00–6:45 PM | Vine and Branch Church
Sicaru Coffee Shop at The Perch – 716 W. Sycamore St.

Enjoy a dessert and coffee stop while connecting with fellow participants. Special thanks to Handshake for generously providing desserts for the event.

After 6:45 PM | Fossil Cove Brewing Co.
1946 N. Birch Ave.

The evening concludes with a final gathering at Fossil Cove Brewing Co. We can't wait to connect!

Assist with receiving and placing donated items into the truck during drop-off times.

Cooking Team

Help stage and prepare food

Cook and wrap hamburgers and hot dogs

Assist with cleanup following the event

Help distribute leftovers to community fridges, beginning with the Garland fridge and, if full, the fridge at St. Paul's Episcopal Church.

CENTRAL ON GARLAND

Central on Garland continues to experience exciting momentum as ministries, partnerships, and community engagement grow across the campus. Recent efforts like Core Central Sunday brought volunteers together to clean, organize, and prepare welcoming spaces for neighbors and guests, reflecting the heart of Garland as a community-centered ministry rooted in hospitality and service.

Sunday Gatherings continue weekly at 10:00 AM in the Dickson St. Campus Chapel, with a current focus on hospitality through The Art of Hospitality: A Practical Guide for a Ministry of Radical Welcome. These conversations are helping shape new opportunities for volunteer involvement, leadership development, outreach, and discipleship.

The long-standing Sunday Suppers Ministry continues to serve the community through meals, connection, and care. Leaders have recently begun exploring future opportunities for kitchen improvements, expanded partnerships, and outreach initiatives while celebrating the many relationships formed through this ministry over the years.

The Pantry Ministry also remains strong each Wednesday evening, supported by faithful volunteers and growing conversations around new community partnerships and food access initiatives.

As we look ahead to the return of regular Worship gatherings this September, preparations continue around hospitality systems, volunteer development, campus readiness, and creating spaces of invitation and belonging for the entire community.

MISSIONS AND OUTREACH

OMP MISSION SPOTLIGHT

Central will be hosting the Ozark Mission Project on June 21-27th at our Dickson Street campus. The Ozark Mission Project transforms lives and communities through worship, fellowship, and hands-on mission. For nearly 40 years, the organization has served Arkansans who are unable to safely access their homes due to minor construction needs, yard work, or accessibility challenges such as the need for wheelchair ramps. To find out ways you can help OMP's mission here at Central, please reach out to Jules Anderson. We are in need of sponsoring dinners the week of 6/21-6/27. Beer and Hymns

Step back in time and support a meaningful cause at The 80s, a retro-themed fundraising events benefiting New Beginnings. Hosted by The Beyond Us Foundation, this event series brings together community members for an evening of fun, music, and giving back with an unforgettable 1980s vibe. Join us at 5 pm on May 24 at Bike Rack Brewing in Bentonville.

This year our VBS sleuths are On the Case! We're looking at some of the most famous stories and parables Jesus told to try to discover the deeper meaning for us now. All Private Eyes (Rising K-6th) are welcome to help us solve these mysteries!

Michael and Brittney McGibbony will present their infant daughter, Mary Grace McGibbony, to receive Holy Baptism at the 11:00 a.m. worship service this Sunday, May 24th, in the Sanctuary. The grandparents are Duff and Ellen Burton, Mike and Lisa McGibbony, and Jay and Donna Trieschmann.

The newest episode of It’s Not Complicated features Jennie, Chase, and Virginia discussing Acts 2:1–13 and the powerful events of Pentecost. They explore the historical background of the Jewish festival and why so many different nations were gathered in Jerusalem at that time.
