December 11, 2020
Dear Central Family:
In April, Central formed a COVID Task Force that has provided input and direction on how our church has handled the pandemic as we have moved through it. After gathering information from UAMS, medical professionals in our church family, and other trusted sources, the task force met this week to consider our present and projected conditions.
After prayerful and thoughtful deliberation, the task force recommended to our Board of Trustees that we pause all in-person worship effective Monday, December 14, 2020 through at least February 15, 2020. The Board of Trustees received this recommendation and approved it on December 9. This will also result in the cancelation of our in-person Christmas Eve worship services. The task force expects to make a decision around the end of January
regarding whether to resume in-person worship in late February or to extend the suspension of in-person worship.
We recognize that the Christmas Eve worship services are an integral part of many local and extended family traditions. We are very sorry for any disappointment that this cancelation of in-person services may cause your families. Our pastoral, worship, and audio/visual teams have been hard at work filming wonderful Christmas Eve Services that will be available for viewing through a variety of channels and times. Listed below are the many options.
Contemporary and Classic services will be available beginning at 10:00 a.m. on December 24 through the following options:
In addition, Genesis Church Christmas Eve services will be available through their website on December 24, which can be found at https://www.genesisfayetteville.com/.
We know that not everyone will agree with this decision, but please know that there are many factors that have gone into this decision including the fact that a number of our staff have been recently diagnosed with COVID, others are in quarantine, and that we have had people within our church who have tested positive for COVID after attending our in-person worship services. We are also being impacted by a decreasing number of volunteers willing to assist with our services. Lastly, we
hope to protect those on staff who are essential to providing the weekly worship services. We will seek to resume in-person worship at the earliest possible time.
We will have a Drive Thru Candle Pickup at Central on December 20 from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. Those of you who would like to pick up our traditional lighted candles or new LED candles to use when viewing Christmas Eve services may drive through our parking lot to receive as many as you would like. Please know that we want to extend our best wishes to you all in this most challenging holiday season and never forget that Christ is King.
Merry Christmas,
Brian Swain
